A $20,000 allocation from the estate of a Three Rivers woman was presented Monday to representatives from two local animal-centered agencies.
Three Rivers resident Katherine Livingston said $20,000 was left by the late Jean Williams, who instructed the money be used to help control the feral-cat population primarily in the Three Rivers area.
Livingston said she has spent more than seven years heading a program called “The Sterile Feral Project,” a task that involves catching and then spaying or neutering feral cats. The animals are then released in an area where they were caught.
Livingston said the $20,000 will allow representatives from Animal Rescue Fund and Upcycled Pets to oversee the program, its funding and continue the spay-neuter process she started.
Livingston said it costs about $40 per animal to complete the process.
Monday’s presentation took place at the office of Three Rivers attorney Patrick O’Malley.
