Ruth Cutler, 95

cutlerRuth Elizabeth Cutler passed away on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at Bickford Cottage in Portage.
Ruth was born May 9, 1921, in Batavia Township, Branch County, a daughter of Alex and Kate (Nelson) McCrary.
Ruth worked for many years as a receptionist in physicians’ offices and retired as a pharmacy clerk from Upjohn Company in 1990.
On Sept. 1, 1951, she married Leon P. “Dutch” Cutler, and enjoyed 59 years of a happy family life together. She loved to spend time doing things with her family and friends and always made them a priority in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Madge Parker.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law Joetta and David Cherry of Sturgis; grandchildren Chata Cherry and Tobi (Adam) Gaff of Portage; a nephew, Dennis (Judy) Parker of Three Rivers; and her loyal cat, Trixie.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Bickford Cottage in Portage. A second memorial will be held in the spring at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
