Dick Ohlin, 86

Richard “Dick” Ohlin, age 86, of Three Rivers, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 at his home. He was born in Three Rivers on March 22, 1930 the son of William and Cora (Christopher) Ohlin.
He graduated from Three Rivers High School before joining the Army Air Corps. He served in the Aleutian Islands and was awarded the Bronze Star. Dick later retired from the Michigan National Guard as a Master Sergeant following 35 years of service to his country. He used his military experience as a Michigan State Trooper, and was a former White Pigeon Fire Chief. For most of his working life Dick was an engineer for Michigan Power Company. Later he was a Realtor with Southwest Area Property Exchange.

Dick was active in many community organizations. He was a life Member of the Free and Accepted Masons and served as Master of Mount Hermon Lodge #24. He served on the Mendon School Board and was a former member of the Mendon Kiwanis Club. Dick served as a St. Joseph County Assessor and was a Park Township Supervisor. He was also a former Probation Officer and volunteer for Three Rivers Hospice.

Dick is survived by four children, Julie (Duane) Johnson of Portage, William (Fran) Ohlin of Evert, WA, Christine (Mike Gostola) Ohlin of Three Rivers, and Larry (Jeanine) Ohlin of Centreville; 20 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; and 21 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Darlene (Don) Gillespie; a brother, David (Beverly) Anson; and several nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene (Davis) Ohlin; his parents; a brother, Bobby Anson; and sister, Tanya Meadows.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon where a Masonic Rite will be held at 7 pm. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Wednesday Dec. 14, 2016 at the Mendon United Methodist Church with Pastor Thoreau May officiating followed by military honors. After cremation a private interment of remains will take place in Riverside Cemetery in Three Rivers.
