Carol Jeanne Wadsworth, age 70, of Mendon, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2016 at her home following a long illness. She was born in Kalamazoo on Nov. 5, 1946 the daughter of Walter H. and Ethel M. (Ware) Swihart. Carol attended Parkville, Athens, and Union City Schools. She was married to Jerry Wadsworth on June 21, 1962. She worked briefly at Lamb-Knit and Colmers in Colon. For many years she was a cook at Sedys Cafe in Colon and the Robin Hood Inn in Sherwood. Carol loved children and cooking for her family. She enjoyed ceramics, leather work, romance novels, and country music. She was also a Mendon Hornet Football fan, and enjoyed trips to the casino.
Carol is survived by two sons, Gerald W. Wadsworth and William R. Wadsworth both of Colon; three grandchildren, Amber, Nicole, and Tyler; seven great-grandchildren; her companion, Rick Fraker of Mendon; six siblings, Phyllis Varner of Three Rivers, Jeanette Kelley of White Pigeon, Robert Swihart of Three Rivers, Charles Swihart of Leonidas, Denise (David) Cook, and Rickey (Barbara) Swihart of Three Rivers; sisters in law, Betty Swihart of Mendon, Pat Swihart of Nashville, Julie Swihart of Marcellus, and Diane Swihart of Kalamazoo; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and numerous special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry in 2011; a grandson, Brandon Lee Wadsworth; and by six siblings, Harold, Clarence, Ronald, Constance, Thomas, and Homer James Swihart; and following Carol’s death, a brother, Walter Swihart.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Moorepark Community Church, 55701 Wilbur Road, Three Rivers, MI 49093 with Rev. Bud Granger officiating.
