The St. Joseph County Transportation Authority provided rides to 14 people during its eighth “New Year’s Eve Free Ride Home” promotion over the weekend.
The total matched the number of rides it gave a year ago.
Steve Yorks, executive director of the Three Rivers-based agency, said the service started at 10 p.m. Saturday and concluded at 4 a.m. Sunday.
The bus positioned in Three Rivers provided rides from the Eagles Club, Riviera Theatre, and a private party at a residence, he said.
The bus based in Sturgis had eight riders in all, which included pickups from Sturgis Bowl and two private parties.
Yorks said funding for the service was provided through donations secured a year ago.
The most rides provided through the program were 37, in the event’s inaugural year of 2008.
