Chester Melton Neal, 75, of Constantine, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at his home. He lived his life on his terms, his way. Chester was born in Chicago on August 8, 1941, a son of Benjamin and Ealey (Wilson) Neal. After high school,Chester served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After serving he attended college in Chicago and later went on to graduate from the Police Academy. He was a boxer, race car driver, and retired from the Chicago Police Department.
Chester is survived by his wife Cathy Morrow Neal of Constantine, children Darla Suggs of Riverdale, IL, Raymoan Neal of Chicago, Lisa (Corey) Parlin of Schoolcraft, and Tasha English of Chicago; grandchildren Shanice Neal of Springfield, IL, Christina Suggs of Springfield, IL, Avery Parlin, Carter Parlin, Antiana Mead, El Ron Cathy, and Wayne English; great-grandchildren Brianna, Johnathan, and Coreyanna; and brothers Benjamin Neal, Irvin Penny, and Carl Griggs, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother John Blackman.
Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends will be received Sunday, January 15 from 12-1 pm at the Eley Funeral Home, Constantine. Memorial services with Military Honors will follow at 1 pm.
