Greg Crabtree, 61

GregGregory Warren Crabtree, age 61, of Three Rivers, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 13, 2017.  He was born in Elmhurst, IL. on September 21, 1955, the son of Mr. Jack and Nancy (Broker) Crabtree.

Greg worked as a machinist for X-L Machine Company after a long stint at the family business where Jonathan currently works. Greg also worked part time putting in boats and docks for residents on the local lakes which resulted in many long-lasting friendships.
Greg has been a resident of Fisher Lake for the last forty plus years.  He spent many summers coming to the lake as a child. He bought a home here, and then later moved to the other side of the lake to the house his grandparents built. He enjoyed all aspects of living at Fisher Lake, but most of all teaching his son, Jonathan to swim, water ski, and enjoy the water, which has continued to this date. Greg was a Correct Craft Boat enthusiast, owning and restoring several during his time at the lake.  He also loved Cubs Baseball. Greg enjoyed snowmobiling in upper Michigan with his son and times spent at the Bolz cabin.  He spent many hours with all of his brothers taking road trips trying to find the next great “Trinket” and a spot for good food.

Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy and one brother, Jonathan Crabtree.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his father, Jack Crabtree, of Vero Beach, FL., son Jonathan Crabtree, of Palatine, IL., and his mother, Terri Crabtree of Three Rivers; three brothers, George, of Chuckey, TN., Keith, of Florence, KY., and Wayne, of Vero Beach, FL., as well as many friends made on the lakes.

  1. Greg going to miss you buddy!!

  2. My condolences to Greg’s family for their sudden loss. I first met Greg when our family first moved to Fisher Lake in 1970. He and his brothers would spend their summers at their Gramp and Gram’s place four house’s down. I spent those early summers hanging with his younger brother Wayne, and more often than not, we were grabbed to be observers when he went skiing, discing, etc. It was a time we all went bare foot from Memorial Day to Labor day. As years went on, and we all went separate ways, I envied that he was able live the Fisher Lake life year-round. When he eventually moved into Grandparent’s house, it was like he never left. Always kept in touch when back home visiting; and a little part of Fisher Lake will be truly missed in his passing.
