Marlin Keith Lane, age 68, of White Pigeon, passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Marlin was born March 3, 1948, in Coldwater, a son of the late Robert and Hilda (Hoard) Lane.
He had lived most of his life in St. Joseph County, graduating from Colon High School with the class of 1967. He then served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970.
On June 27, 1970, he married Barbara K. Tuttle in Sturgis.
Marlin had worked as a truck driver, retiring in 1998. He was a life member of Colon American Legion Post #454.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lane of White Pigeon; three children, Phionna Moon of Sturgis, Marla Lane and Robert (Elizabeth) Lane of White Pigeon; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Embler of Bronson; two brothers, Robert “Paul” (Marcia) Lane of Coldwater and Harold (Kate) Lane of Three Rivers; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Marlyn Lane; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Embler.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Marlin K. Lane will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, with military honors conferred by the Fort Custer National Cemetery honor guard.
If desired, memorials may be made in memory of Marlin to either Wounded Warriors Fund or American Diabetes Association . The family was assisted by Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.
