Superintendent applicant withdraws application

A contender for the job of Centreville Public Schools’ superintendent has withdrawn her candidacy, opening the door for a new applicant.
Rod Green, hired by the district through the Michigan Association of School Boards to lead the superintendent search, said he was informed Tuesday that Risa Herber withdrew from consideration.
As a result, Kyle Corlett, principal at Park Elementary School in Three Rivers since 2015, will be invited to interviews taking place Saturday.
Green gave no explanation for Herber’s decision. She most recently was superintendent at Lakeland School Corporation in LaGrange County, Ind., from 2006 to 2016.
Meanwhile, Corlett previously served as principal and curriculum director in Gilman, Ill. He also worked as an English teacher in Momence, Ill.
Interviews will be Saturday in the high school library; a second round with finalists is planned for March 18. Both interviews will be conducted in a public forum.
The candidates and their interview times are:
Stephanie Lemmer, 8:30 a.m., Ray Bohm, 9:30 a.m., Corlett at 10:30 a.m., Tim Donahue at 11:45 a.m. and Corey Helgesen at 12:45 p.m.
The board expects to appoint a new superintendent this spring to begin work July 1. The posted salary is between $100,000 and $110,000 a year.
