Two arrested after high speed chase

Two Indiana men are in the Elkhart County Jail awaiting extradition to Michigan after leading Michigan State Police on a high-speed chase last weekend.
The pair, a 21-year-old from Topeka and a 20-year-old from Goshen, was arrested by Indiana authorities after crashing a stolen car.
About 7 p.m. Sunday, a state police trooper attempted to stop the northbound vehicle on South Kalamazoo Street near Indian Prairie Road in White Pigeon Township due to excessive speed. The driver instead fled at a high rate of speed, according to authorities.
The pursuit continued through the village of White Pigeon and to Chicago Road, then west to southbound U. S. 131 and on into Indiana. The suspects attempted to elude police on rural roads until reaching State Road 120 at a speed of more than 100 mph and sometimes driving into oncoming traffic.
A Bristol officer deployed stop sticks to deflate the vehicle’s tires at County Road 17. The driver continued until losing control.
The vehicle, a 1999 Dodge Neon, had been reported stolen from LaGrange County.
