Constantine considers golf-cart ordinance

Following action earlier this month by the Centreville Village Council regarding a golf-cart ordinance, the village of Constantine recently discussed the issue.
During last week’s Constantine Village Council meeting, municipal officials agreed to pursue an ordinance that would also include provisions for penalties or violations.
Village manager Mark Honeysett said concerns he has include whether it’s OK for someone whose driver’s license is suspended to be allowed to operate a golf cart, fines or punishment for someone caught operating an unregistered golf cart, violations of golf carts being driven before or after certain hours of the day, and consequences for someone under 16 years of age caught driving a cart on village streets.
Council members delegated the issue to village attorney Howard Bush, who is expected to present a rough-draft ordinance for consideration.
