Mr. Leo C. Reames, age 87, of Portage, formerly of Three Rivers, passed away on Thursday, April 27th, 2017 at the Rose Arbor Hospice Facility surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Jones, MI., on May 31, 1929 the son of the late Clarence L. and Ertah D. (Clark) Reames.
Leo served his country in the United States Army from 1954 until his honorable discharge in July of 1956. On Oct. 11, 1952 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Bonnie (Michielson) Reames, whom survives. Leo was a lifelong farmer in the Jones area until moving to Portage. He served on the Jones Fire Department for forty-seven years and recently attended the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ruth (Henry) Dieterman, and one brother-in-law, Mr. Robert Boling.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife of 65 years, Bonnie Reames, of Portage, MI.; one brother, Dean (Mary Jo) Reames, of Jones, MI.; one sister, Mary Boling, of Constantine, MI.; special nephew and niece, Mr. Larry and Judy Johnson; of Portage, MI., and many friends and extended family.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church with Father Stan Witek as celebrant.
Interment of cremains will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI.
