Centreville Public Schools Superintendent Rob Kuhlman issued a second media release regarding the cancellation of classes a second consecutive day Friday.
Kuhlman said district administrators along with the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department have been investigating a potential threat of violence at the high school. The investigation came after a message was submitted on the “OK 2 Say” anonymous tip line Wednesday evening.
The tip specifically mentioned Centreville Public Schools and the potential threat of gun violence.
Kuhlman said he decided to call off school Friday as the incident remained under investigation. He called the decision putting student safety in the best interest of everyone.
Federal law prohibits the district from commenting on the specific nature of the reported threat, the students involved or individual disciplinary decisions.
Consequently, Kuhlman said he was unable to indicate the grade level or gender of the two students suspected of being behind the incident.
