Monsanto planning future projects

Monsanto’s community advisory, featuring Monsanto site manager Barry Meyer, and production leaders Derek Peterson and Michael Ochsner, earlier this month led a brainstorming session regarding Monsanto projects.
The Monsanto plant, located in Constantine Township, has 128 drying bins and processed 2.6 million bushels of corn in 2016. Furthermore, it harvested 28,000 female acres with 80 corn hybrids, Meyer said.
Future construction projects include advanced instrumentation, a project with laser positioning in dryers and bulk-corn storage to prevent mixing. Meyer said in addition, a mid- sized packaging line with a robot arm to pick up and stack pallets will be installed.
The 20-year-old Constantine-area facility is the largest Monsanto seed corn producer in the country and has a key role in the development, production and supply of DeKalb seed corn for farmers in Michigan, the East Coast and Canada.
