COA brings fresh produce to seniors

The St. Joseph County Commission on Aging is participating in Senior Project FRESH, which provides older adults who qualify with Michigan-grown products from authorized farmers markets and roadside stands throughout Michigan.
Eligible items include berries, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, beans and honey. The program is free for both the participant and the farmer.
Prospective recipients must be at least 60 years old, live in St. Joseph County and meet income eligibility requirement.
Project Fresh coupons pickup for residents of Sturgis and its surrounding area is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Sturgis Enrichment Center.
Three Rivers-area participants may pick up their coupons 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting Monday at the Three Rivers Community Center.
