200 pounds of medication collected

More than 200 pounds of unwanted and unused prescription drugs were turned in during a recent annual collection in St. Joseph County.
The National Take-Back Initiative was April 29 and several local law-enforcement agencies, in conjunction with the St. Joseph County Substance Abuse Task Force, participated.
State-wide, 20,370 pounds were collected from 202 different sites in Michigan.
Permanent disposal boxes for free, safe and anonymous prescription medications are available at the St. Joseph County Sheriff ’s Department, and police stations in Colon, Constantine, Sturgis and Three Rivers.
