Clella Joanne Payton, age 79, died on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Heartland Nursing Home in Three Rivers. Her death was the result of a stroke and a fall a week earlier. Joanne, the name she went by, was born April 3, 1938, in Marcellus, to Barbara (Russell) and Raymond Robinson. Both parents grew up and lived in Marcellus and Joanne graduated from Marcellus High School in 1956. She married Daniel Morse on February 16, 1963. They had no children, but Danny had children by a previous marriage. They lived in Constantine. Danny died on December 3, 2002.
Joanne married David Payton on January 10, 2004 and they lived in Three Rivers until his death on December 25, 2016. At the time of her death, she was living with a friend, Mary Howard, and was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Three Rivers.
Although Joanne never had any children of her own, she loved children and young people and enjoyed her nieces and nephews. She is survived by her brother Willard A. Robinson (Joyce Jensen) of Andover, MA and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Joanne’s body has been cremated and the ashes will be placed with Danny’s in the Mottville Township Cemetery, St. Joseph County, MI. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Wednesday July 12, 2017 at 7:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witnesses at 330 South Douglas, Three Rivers, MI 49093
