Centreville considers hiring village manager

Members of the Centreville Village Council will study the feasibility and cost of hiring a village manager.
Council members last week agreed to talk to other communities served by a village manager to gauge their feelings about the position. Colon earlier this year became the latest local community to employ the services of a village manager.
Trustee Gary McClain said the council should also study village staffing levels in light of a new computer system put in about a year ago.
Pattie Bender, Downtown Development Authority chairperson, said she had attended a two-day training for Redevelopment Ready Communities. She said having a village manager would assist with Centreville becoming a Redevelopment Ready Community.
Bender encouraged the council to invite a speaker from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to meet with the council, the Planning Commission and the DDA.
