Officials with the Tri-County Health Department have given the OK for Camp Eberhart to re-open following an outbreak of a suspected norovirus.
Community Health Officer Rebecca Burns said the Fabius Township site was cleared to re-open Wednesday. Nearly 50 people, including a few staff members were stricken with a case of vomiting and diarrhea.
Laboratory testing by the agency remains ongoing and will eventually confirm what caused the illnesses.
The first 30 illnesses were reported during a camp session that ended July 29, forcing about 310 campers to be sent home two days early.
Norovirus is a contagious virus that people can catch from an infected person, contaminated food or water, or by touching contaminated surfaces, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
