June R. Hendrix, 89, of White Pigeon, Mich., died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis after a short illness.
She was born June 22, 1920, in Sturgis, a daughter to Ray A. and Della M. (Grimes) Jones. She lived in the White Pigeon area all of her life.
She married Joe Kolter, and he preceded her in death. She married John F. Hendrix on Oct. 13, 1973, in White Pigeon, and he died April 15, 1987.
She worked at Sutherland Paper Company in Kalamazoo and at Continental Can in Three Rivers, where she worked for 28 years as an inspector.
She was a former member of the White Pigeon United Methodist Church.
She was known to her friends as “June Bug,” and she enjoyed the farm she lived on all of her life, gardening, raising strawberries and spending time with her cats and dogs. She was known for her summer picnic and corn roast at the farm.
Surviving are her stepson, John (Jocelyne Parent) Hendrix of Toronto, Ontario; two nephews; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and her brother, Marion Jones.
Visitation will take place 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Canon Meredith Hunt of St. John’s Episcopal Church officiating.
Burial will follow at White Pigeon Township Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed toward the Humane Society.
