Phyllis Phelps, 97

Phyllis J. Phelps, age 97, of Colon, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at Sturgis Hospital.
Phyllis was born Aug. 7, 1920, in Leonidas, a daughter of the late Grover R. and Grace (Adams) Lowther.
She married Harold R. Phelps. He preceded her in death June 26, 1971.
She had worked as a beautician in Colon for several years and had attended Colon Baptist Church.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Jay, David and Debra Phelps; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Roger L. Phelps and Gary R. Phelps; a granddaughter, Pamela Carlson; an infant grandson; a brother, J.W. Lowther; and a sister, Betty L. Drake.
Keeping to her wishes, cremation will take place and no services are planned. Private interment of ashes will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
If desired, memorials may be made in memory of Phyllis to Colon Rescue Squad. The family was assisted by Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.
