Brian P. Chaney, age 60, of Colon, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, at his home.
He was born Dec. 15, 1956, in Battle Creek, a son of Louis P. and Marjorie F. (Paulson) Chaney. Brian graduated from Delton Kellogg High School in 1976 and continued his love of learning at Kellogg Community College.
On June 16, 1984, he married Carol Faulker in Battle Creek. Brian worked for 20 years at Se-kure Domes and Mirrors, Sturgis in maintenance, CNC programming and building dies. He was an avid reader, especially Stephen King, and he enjoyed NASCAR and water sports.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Chaney of Colon; daughters Tonya (Don) D’Water of Colon, Brianne (Tommy) Bucklin of Battle Creek and Angie (Mike) VanderStraaten of Colon; a son, Luke Chaney of Colon; grandchildren Izaak, Adam, Ethan, Blake, Dylan, Donnie, Austin, Shyanne and Tessa; two sisters; and stepfather Sam Gibson of Rapid River. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Gibson; his father, Louis Chaney; and a grandson, Devon VanderStraaten.
Relatives and friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pastor Chad McCallum of Wesleyan Church in Noblesville, Ind., will officiate. Cremation will follow services. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for Brian’s son, Luke Chaney.
