Additional citations issued for White Pigeon trailer park

Follow-up inspections to a White Pigeon Township trailer park have found the owner did little to bring code violations into compliance since a checkup in August.

Township supervisor Don Gloy said an update on the situation was provided at Tuesday’s monthly board of trustees meeting.

Gloy said after the Aug. 14 compliance check conducted by the township’s code-enforcement officer Doug Kuhlman and building inspector Randy Schmeling, the owner of River Forest Mobile Home Park was ordered to bring several of the units into compliance with standards established by the International Property Maintenance Code.

Gloy said park owner Joel Reinoehl did next to nothing, and 46 citations were issued and 10 units condemned in the wake of August’s visit.

Kuhlman and Schmeling finished all follow-up inspections over the course of a two-day period earlier this week. Ten more units were condemned Monday; results from Tuesday’s inspection were not made available to Gloy by Tuesday night, he said.

A Dec. 13 date in district court will likely determine the fate of the trailer park, Gloy said.
