One area high school football team remains alive in the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s playoffs.
Mendon High School will try to advance to the Division 8 “Final Four” bracket Saturday, when it squares off in a matinee contest against Climax-Scotts.
The Hornets are 11-0 and will face for perhaps the final time a 9-2 Climax-Scotts squad. The showdown takes place at 1 p.m. in Mendon.
The teams have met the past six consecutive years in the post season.
Climax-Scotts, which has won the past two contests against Mendon, will switch to an 8-man league next year.
Mendon is coming off a home win against then-No. 1-ranked Muskegon Catholic Central, 26-15.
The winner of Saturday’s game will face the victor from a Saturday afternoon contest pitting Ottawa Lake Whitford against Clarkston Everest Collegiate.
