Constantine reviews medical marijuana ordinance

Constantine Village Council members viewed a second, 11-page ordinance draft Monday authorizing commercial medical marijuana facilities in the village.

The council reviewed licensing information provided by village Manager Mark Honeysett at the last four council meetings, and directed village attorney Howard Bush to work on a draft of the ordinance. The first draft was presented Oct. 16 and Bush attended a meeting on Nov. 6 to get council input.

In a memo, Honeysett stated there are a few issues to address.

The first question is where and what types of facilities be allowed. Another question raised was whether to prohibit the operation of medical marijuana facilities in the central business district.

A public hearing is set for Dec. 4 to receive community comment regarding the ordinance.
