Shirley Clauss, 76

Shirley Ann Clauss, age 76, of Sturgis, and a former longtime White Pigeon resident, passed away early Wednesday morning, Nov. 22, 2017, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
Shirley was born April 27, 1941, in Sturgis, a daughter of the late Jesse Robert and Dorothy (Krontz) Chapman.
She resided in Sturgis since 2009, coming from White Pigeon, where she lived for more than 37 years.
On June 25, 1960, she married Arthur Clauss in Vicksburg. He died Dec. 23, 2010.
Shirley was a homemaker, enjoyed collecting knick-knacks and loved her dog, Rainey.
She is survived by a daughter, Orrine (John Weirich) Sodano of Jones; a son, George Clauss of Sturgis; three grandchildren, Aaron, Jesse and Amber; three great-grandchildren and expecting two more; a sister, Betty Wise of Florida and Babby Purdue of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Leah L. Clauss and Tonya Lee Clauss; a son, Randy Clauss; and a brother, Robert Chapman.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Monday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Cremation will follow visitation. A graveside service and burial of the ashes will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parkville Cemetery near Three Rivers. The Rev. Corey Happner will officiate.
