Members of the Constantine Village Council this week reviewed the most recent draft of an ordinance allowing medical marijuana facilities to operate in the village.
The council set a special meeting for 7 p.m. Tuesday, when council members will consider a resolution to permit medical marijuana facilities.
Michigan’s new medical marijuana licensing system begins Dec. 15. The state will accept licensing applications to grow, process, sell or transport medical marijuana. Existing businesses may stay open while seeking a state license, as long as they have been operating with the approval of their local community.
Also included for the council to review were four licensing and regulatory-affairs bulletins, a draft of an application for a person seeking a permit to operate a facility in Michigan and a new medical marijuana resolution.
Village manager Mark Honeysett said the resolution would go hand-in-hand with a new ordinance.
