Rolland J. (Rod) Mead, 64, of Florence Township, Constantine, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at his home.
He was born Aug. 5, 1953, a son of John and Caroline (Hafer) Strait. He had been a Constantine-area resident for the past 34 years. He was employed as an auto mechanic, welder and fabricator for Med Tech, a licensed firearms dealer and currently self-employed as a metal fabricator.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Constantine and Sturgis American Legion. He enjoyed his motorcycles and was active in Sturgis Toy Run and other charitable organizations.
On June 17, 1972, he married Deborah A. Roberts in Three Rivers. She died Nov. 13, 2014. He then married Charissa Boals, who survives, along with a son, William C. (Amanda) Mead; a daughter, Amy L. (Joseph) Folkerts; nine grandchildren; brothers and sisters Joe McCuaig, Steve (Virginia) McCuaig, Margaret (Don) Gasper, Patricia Strait and Jack Strait; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; and two grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at Sturgis America Legion Post. Arrangements are by Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon.
