Cass County arrests break in suspects

Cass County deputies assisted a local police agency in a breaking-and-entering incident that was reported to be in progress.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called at 2:30 a.m. Thursday to assist Silver Creek Township Police Department. It had responded to a suspicious vehicle near the 31000 Block of Magician Lake Terrace and at the location of a house that had been broken in to.

Cass County K9 officer Faust responded to the location and began a search for the suspects. K9 Faust tracked the suspects from the back door of the residence approximately 1/2 mile across several yards and into a wooded area.

Two subjects were located hiding in the woods and were taken into custody.

A 26-year-old Michigan City man and a 29-year-old Elkhart man were transported to the Cass County Jail, where they were to be arraigned on several charges, including breaking and entering.
