Gloria Schrader, 92

Gloria M. Schrader, age 92, of Sturgis, passed away Monday morning, Jan. 22, 2018, at her home.
She was born Dec. 7, 1925, in Solvay, N.Y., a daughter of the late Henry and Florence (Cottrell) Kinder.
Gloria resided in Sturgis since 1970, coming from Oswego, N.Y.
On April 2, 1971, she married Eldon Schrader in Centreville.
Gloria was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis and longtime member of the Square Dance Club. She enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, mushroom-hunting and dancing.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Eldon; a daughter, Janice Barkby of Mequon, Wis.; three sons, Ronald (Ruth) Barkby of Elgin, Ill., John (Jan) Barkby of Green Bay, Wis., and Dennis Barkby of White Pigeon; two stepdaughters, Lorrie Mangum of Austell, Ga., and Rose Marie Schrader of Dublin, Ga.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepdaughter, Debbie Sweet; a stepson, Eldon Schrader Jr.; a grandson, Matthew Mangum; three sisters, Florence O’Brien, Ada Dubosh and Helen Tuttle; and a brother, Gerald Kinder.
The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Gloria M. Schrader will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Kurt Kuhlmann of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Burr Oak will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Sturgis Memorial Gardens in Sturgis.
