Joe Sullivan, 59

Joseph J. Sullivan, age 59, of Bronson, passed away Wednesday morning, Feb. 7, 2018, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
He was born Jan. 10, 1959, in Jackson, a son of the late James A. “Sully” and Josephine A. (LaFountain) Sullivan.
Joe resided in Bronson for the past 13 years, coming from Sturgis.
Most of Joe’s working life was involved in the boat-building industry and was employed by South Bay Pontoons in Middlebury for several years.
He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army, earning the rank of Private First Class Recovery Specialist.
Joe had a true love and appreciation for the outdoors, especially time spent in the woods. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a son, Joshua Sullivan of Sturgis; a daughter, Kristi Scott of South Bend, Ind.; three grandchildren, Sylas Joseph Sullivan, Katina Charis Scott and Rayna Marie Scott; two sisters, Roseann (Art) Hedrick of Bronson and Terry (Edward) Lehman of Quincy; a brother, Gilbert (Heidi) Sullivan of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Samira Scott; and two brothers, David Sullivan and James Sullivan.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Joseph Sullivan will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Terry Siler of First Congregational Church in Bronson will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Sturgis Memorial Gardens in Sturgis.
