Elaine Mae Bupp, age 91 of Mendon, died Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Fairview Living and Rehabilitation Center in Centreville where she had resided the past year. She was born in Ormsby, PA on June 2, 1926 the daughter of the late Edward G. and Eva Mae (Everts) Schoenwald. After high school she attended Warner Beauty College and was a beautician in Indiana for several years. Elaine worked for 15 years at Trans-O-Gram in Sturgis, retiring as supervisor of packaging.
Elaine was a very active member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a life member of the Mendon and Three Rivers chapters. She served as President of both the St. Joseph County, and the Southwest District of OES; Grand Representative of the North Dakota and Michigan OES; Grand Committee Membership in the Chapman-Holland year; Grand Esther for the Belknap-Hyde year; Associate Grand Conductress; Grand Conductress; Associate Grand Matron; Worthy Grand Matron for the State of Michigan 2000-01; General Grand Chapter Estral 2009-12.
Elaine was preceded in death by husbands, Max Andrews and Harvey Bupp. She is survived by a daughter, Dawn Weldy; four grandchildren, Jack, Kimberly, Max, and Russell Weldy; 14 great-grandchildren; and fellow members of the Eastern Star.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon with Past Grand Matrons of Grand Chapter OES of Michigan presiding. A private interment of cremains will take place in Mendon Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Grand Chapter OES Education Fund.
