Sturgis Hospital has implemented measures to improve the security of patients, visitors and staff.
Effective today, the inner door of the Emergency Room entrance will be locked at all times, and a hospital staff member will be stationed at the window between the inner and outer doors to provide access.
Any time of the day, ER patients should come to this window when needing to be seen. All other guests entering the hospital, including other patients, visitors and vendors should enter through the main entrance during its open hours, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
After 8 p.m., all guests will need to enter via the emergency room entrance.
Rob LaBarge, president and CEO, said like many other businesses, Sturgis Hospital has a responsibility to ensure the safety of its patients, visitors and staff.
Sturgis Hospital is an 84-bed, licensed, acute-care facility.
