Jerry White, 87

Geraldine (Jerry) L. (Bartold) White died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, surrounded by family, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, Ill.
Jerry was born March 10, 1930, in Sturgis, to Peter and Clara (Kibiloski) Bartold. She graduated from Sturgis High School and attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo for two years.
On June 29, 1957, she married John (Jack) S. White at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis.
Jerry is survived by her husband, Jack, of Danville, Ill.; three sons, Michael Brian White (Kimberly) of LeRoy, Ill., Brian Stephen White of Chatham, Ill., and Christopher David White (Sally) of Spring, Texas; and two granddaughters, Karalee Quinn White and Molly Renee White, both of LeRoy, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Clara; and a brother, Virgil.
Jerry started married life with Jack and her young family in Fort Wayne, later moving (with her husband’s work) to Anderson, Ind., Decatur, Ill., and finally Danville, Ill., in August 1968. With her three sons established in school, Jerry began work in the accounting department of at Walgreens National Disbursing Office in September 1971. where she continued employment until August 1998 (27 years.)
Jerry enjoyed crocheting, crafts, gardening, Illini sports and singing (she sang in the church choir during her early years.) She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, served as an officer for Schlarman Booster Club, served as Junior Achievement advisor and is a past member of Lincoln Trails Toastmasters. But her greatest joy, and the role she valued most, was that of mom to her three sons. Her love for family was unconditional, and she always placed the needs of her boys above her own.
Rest dear wife and mother, knowing that your legacy of putting family above everything else in life has been performed successfully beyond all reasonable expectations.
Visitation for Jerry will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Sunset Funeral Home, 3940 North Vermilion St., Danville, Ill. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Father Bo Schmitt will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made in Jerry’s name to St. Paul’s Catholic Church or Schlarman Academy in Danville; or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital .
