James W. Rodman, age 85, of Sturgis, passed away late Thursday evening, March 15, 2018, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born Sept. 14, 1932, in Marion, Ind., son of the late Earl and Lillian (Piner) Rodman.
James resided in Sturgis since 1980 coming from Florida.
On May 9, 1964, he married Sandra Sue Bright in Jonesboro, Ind.
Mr. Rodman retired in 2002 from Precision Speed Equipment in Sturgis following 18 years of dedicated employment.
James enjoyed fishing and spending time in Northern Michigan. He and Sue loved traveling to visit lighthouses and together they visited nearly all the lighthouses in Michigan.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 53 years, Sue; two sons, James (Corinne) Rodman of Quincy, Ill. and Scott (Debbie) Rodman of Sturgis; four grandchildren, Rollin, Peter, Sarah and Sienna; brothers, Wayne Rodman and Donald Rodman both of Marion, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Alice Shutt and Nellie Smith; and four brothers, John, Gene, Dane and Allen Rodman.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Jim’s sister-in-law, Deb Hershberger, for her never ending help, care and love that she has given to Jim and Sue over the past few years and also a special thanks to neighbor Lila.
