Two people were injured following a collision this week in Cass County’s Jefferson Township.
Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday to the intersection of M-62 and Hospital Street. Investigators found 18-year-old Brittany Backus of Edwardsburg was driving west on Brownsville Road, when she stopped at the intersection of M-62 then proceeded east onto Hospital Road.
Behnke said Backus allegedly drove into the path of a vehicle driven northbound on M-62 by Mack Clark, 44, of Dowagiac.
The vehicles collided within the intersection. Backus was transported by Medlfight and her passenger was transported by Lifecare ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital.
Investigators said seatbelts were worn and alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors in this crash.
