Kathryn Elberta Stienbarger, age 93, of Mendon died Friday, April 20, 2018 at The Birches of Leonidas where she had resided the past six years. She was born in Three Rivers on Oct. 17, 1924 the daughter of Leon T. and Frances (Bloom) Buchner. Kathryn graduated from Mendon High School with the Class of 1943. She was married to Hal Byron Stienbarger on June 18, 1943 in Mendon. Together they raised their family and operated a farm & dairy north of Mendon. They established Stienbarger Spraying Services in 1964 providing services to neighboring farmers. Kathryn enjoyed Square Dancing, embroidery, and travels across the country.
Surviving are three children, Ann (Gary) Henckel of Mendon, Larry Stienbarger of Mendon, and Stan (Linda) Stienbarger of Canton, NC; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Pearl Collins of Three Rivers; brother in law, Roger (Florence) Stienbarger of Three Rivers; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hal in 2014; and her brother, Sharon Buchner in 2017.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Factoryville Bible Church, 33650 Factoryville Rd., Athens, MI 49011 with Pastor Fred Goebert officiating. Following services, there will be a light luncheon at the church followed by interment in Beard Cemetery.
