New COA site work continues

Work on converting the former Three Rivers Inn to the new St. Joseph County Commission On Aging site is continuing, though at a pace a bit slower than COA officials had hoped.

During last week’s COA advisory board meeting, agency director Tim Stoll said work continues on the financing component of the process.

He said he recently attended what he labeled a promising meeting with a community development entity that might help with the New Market Tax Credit allocation.

Stoll said the CDE has not yet committed to the project. If it does and completes a letter of intent, closing on the loan will be a 90-day process.

After that, construction can begin, Stoll noted.

He said it’s safe to say the conversion will not be finished until 2019.
