Centreville Public Schools Board of Education has approved starting a K-6 before-and after-school program for the 2018-19 academic year.
Superintendent Stephanie Lemmer said the budget for the program would be about $70,000, with total anticipated revenue of more than $130,000, based on the number of parents who have said they would be interested.
Any profit earned would go toward scholarships or supplies.
Doors would be open from 6:30 a.m. before school and until 6 p.m. after school. Personnel would consist of a program overseer, a lead caregiver and assistant caregivers.
Lemmer said she has fielded numerous requests for such a program, as 40 percent of the district’s families don’t live in Centreville but are driving their children in and going to work.
