Approximately 100 million people live with chronic pain, which is more than cancer, heart
disease, and diabetes combined. Chronic pain is the number one reason people in the United
States access the healthcare system, and it’s the leading cause of disability in Americans
under the age of 45. With the challenges of pain management treatment comes the concern
of appropriate prescribing in our nation today. Michigan continues to seek solutions to combat
the opioid crisis that is wreaking havoc across communities throughout the state.
