Dale Sutton, 83

Robert Dale Sutton (known as Dale), age 83, of Leesburg, Fla., and a longtime former resident of Sturgis, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, Fla.
He was born July 16, 1934, in Sturgis, a son of the late John and Nola (Forester) Sutton.
Dale was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1952. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Siboney, earning the rank of SKT3. Returning from the Navy, he became a successful kitchen designer, a career he enjoyed until his retirement in 1996.
Dale was known to love God, sing karaoke, dance, watch football and play golf.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 21 years, Patricia; a daughter, Connie (Isaac) Sutton of Sturgis; a son, Andy (Elizabeth) Keyser of Clearwater, Fla.; a grandson, Blair (Emily) Sutton of Houston; a granddaughter, Dayna (Jake) Jedynak of Mattawan; a great-grandson, Owen of Mattawan; sisters-in-law Donna Sutton and Ann Sutton, both of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marlene; three sisters, Maxine Huss, Carol Chalupa and Joyce Smith; and three brothers, John Sutton, Deforest Sutton and Larry Sutton.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service and burial of the ashes will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, July 2, at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. The Rev. Calvin Kolzow of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis will officiate. Full military honors will be conferred by Capt, John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with local arrangements.
