Nancy Fay West, age 92, of Colon, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy was born July 25, 1925, in Jackson, a daughter of the late Harry A. and Letha Fay (Freeland) Murphy.
Nancy had lived most all of her life in Colon, graduating from Colon High School with the class of 1945.
On March 8, 1944, she married Arthur (Bud) West in Three Rivers. He preceded her in death Aug. 29, 2016.
Nancy had worked for Colmers Company in Colon for 47 years, from 1958 until her retirement in 2005.
Nancy enjoyed crocheting and restoring old furniture, but most of all loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Patrick (Rolene) West of Colon; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Bud, she was preceded in death by two sons, David and James West; four sisters, Marieta Reed, Willadean Smith, Jean Delp and Joyce Brandt; a brother, Gerald J. Murphy; and two infant great-granddaughters, Lyndsay and Leah West.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. A funeral service celebrating the life of Nancy West will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, at the funeral home, with Rev. David J. Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Cemetery in Sherwood.
If desired, the family suggests memorials be made in memory of Nancy to the Colon Township Library children’s summer reading program.
