Richard Brown, 84

Richard E. Brown, age 84 of Centreville, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 at his son’s home in Sturgis. He was born near Centreville on May 19, 1934 the son of Seth and Della (Bronstetter) Brown and was a lifetime resident of St. Joseph County. Richard graduated from Centreville High School with the class of 1952. He was married to Betty A. Lytle on July 31, 1954 in Centreville. Richard began his working life as a farmer and volunteered to serve in the National Guard. He would later be employed mostly as a truck driver at Weyerhaeuser, Formed Tubes, Wheel Camper, Frye Copy Systems, and retired from Kendall Electric. Richard enjoyed taking his Model-A to local car shows and parades and allowing children to explore the vehicle. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Richard is survived by two sons, Richard “Rick” (Lynn) Brown of Constantine and Randy Lee (Lou Ann) Brown of Sturgis; six grandchildren, Myka Brown, Sarah (Tim) Brown, David Alan Brown, Kevin Brown, Scott Post, and Lindsay (Brian) Lash; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Ann Ely. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Barbara Allen and Dorothy Pierce; his wife, Betty in 2000; his daughter Norma Brown in 2010.

In keeping with his wishes cremation has been conducted. The family will receive friends from 10 am to noon on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018 at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers. Memorial services will begin at Noon on Friday Sept. 14, 2018 at the funeral home with Rev. Randy Evans, Pastor of New Beginnings Church officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
