Bessie Fair, 93

Bessie Elizabeth Fair, age 93, of Centreville, passed away Friday evening, Oct. 19, 2018, at her home.
She was born Jan. 13, 1925, in Charleston Township, a daughter of the late John and Margaret (Sly) Rugg.
Mrs. Fair resided in Centreville for more than 50 years. On Feb. 26, 1942, she married Alvin E. Fair in Angola, Ind. He died Oct. 20, 1995.
Bessie was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, embroidering, baking and going for rides and she loved time with her family, especially holiday and special gatherings.
She is survived by six daughters, Linda (Raymond) Mostrum of Sturgis, Lilly (Harold) Shears of Centreville, Virginia (Jerry) Sutherland of East LeRoy, Louann Fair of Centreville, Debra Fair of Centreville and Sara Fair of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, Alvin Fair Jr. of Centreville; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Bessie Elizabeth Fair will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A graveside committal will take place at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue.
