Doug Novak, 67

Douglas Anthony Novak, age 67, of Leonidas, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2018 at Bronson Methodist Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Flint, MI on Aug. 1, 1951 the son of the late Harry and Lorraine (King) Novak. Doug graduated from Bentley High School in Flint and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Viet Nam war. He returned to Flint where he worked at the original Fisher Body plant known as Buick One. He transferred to the Hydra-Matic plant in Three Rivers in 1980, and retired from the Cadillac plant in Hamtramck in 1999. Doug was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed working in his yard, making maple syrup, bird hunting, and golfing.

Doug was married to Roberta Sue Taylor on Oct. 12, 1974 in Columbus, Ohio. Bobbie survives, along with three children, Chadwick (Heather) Baker of Walberg, NC, Anthony J. “AJ” (Heather) Novak of Leonidas, and Nicole Novak of Leonidas; two grandchildren, Caegan and Blake Baker; three brothers, Greg (Marilyn) Novak, Mark (Joann) Novak, and Matt (Leanna) Novak; a sister, Bethany (Doug) Nephew; several nieces, nephews and in-laws. And by his faithful dog, Kate.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. A memorial service will begin at 3 pm with his son, Chad Baker officiating. It is suggested that donations be directed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
