Robert Lee Dawson II, age 62, of Sturgis, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo.
He was born March 11, 1956, in Wyandotte, a son of Robert Lee and Dyvonne Dawson.
Robert resided in Sturgis since 1995 coming from the Detroit area.
On July 24, 2004, he married Ann Collett in Sturgis.
Robert was a talented carpenter and handyman by trade.
He was a member of Sturgis Missionary Church. He had a true appreciation for the outdoors, especially when he was on the lake fishing. Robert’s greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; three daughters, Katrina (Tim) Shufelt of Sturgis, Amanda (Neil) Burson of Three Rivers and Deborah (Austin) Bartholomew of Sturgis; six grandchildren, Jade, Anthony, Iliah, Wyatt, Rylynn and Bella; his mother, Dyvonne Riach of Southgate; two sisters, Susan (Kevin) Comerzan of Woodhaven and Karen Dawson of Sturgis; a brother, Brian Dawson of Wyandotte; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Dawson; stepfather Robert Riach; a sister, Lynn Willis; and a nephew, Jesse Willis.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends for the sharing of a meal and to celebrate and honor the life of Robert Lee Dawson will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Sturgis Missionary Church, 67080 M-66, Sturgis.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be directed to American Cancer Society , attn: LaGrange County Relay For Life , 130 Red Coach Drive, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
