David Alan Jenks, age 76, of White Pigeon, passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 26, 2019, at his home.
He was born April 6, 1942, in Elkhart, a son of the late Harold and Mary Louise (Overlease) Jenks.
David resided in White Pigeon since 1993, coming from Elkhart, where he was a graduate of Elkhart High School with the class of 1960.
On June 17, 1961, he married Jane Ellen Withers in Elkhart.
David began his career with NAPA Auto Parts in 1959 and was an owner and operator for 58 years.
He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying, woodworking, fishing, hunting and bowling. He recently was enjoying attending racing events and antique boats. David loved time spent with his family.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Holly and Becca from Heartland Hospice for their support and care of David.
David is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jane; a daughter, Lori Jenks of White Pigeon; two sons, Robert (Wendy) Jenks of Sturgis and Gregory (fiancée Nicole Badman) Jenks of Shavehead Lake; and three grandchildren, Austin Jenks of Kalamazoo, Brandon Jenks of Sturgis and Reaghan Jenks of Shavehead Lake.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. No services are planned.
Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with the arrangements.
The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mr. Jenks’s memory consider St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
