Thanksgiving is but a memory and what a wonderful memory it was. Plenty of good food and plenty of time just to kick back, relax and enjoy the wonderful weather.
Accolades to the Three Rivers Department of Public Services. Christmas decorations adorn many of the lampposts, and seeing them while crossing the Pealer Street Bridge, really can put one in the spirit of the holidays. A month from today, Christmas and New Year’s Day will be just a memory. Let’s try to get Out and About and cherish this special time.
Make We Merry happens this Friday and Saturday. It’s the 25th anniversary of this annual community Holiday celebration. The venue is the Three Rivers High School Performing Arts Center, and it all starts at 7:30 P.M. both evenings. You can purchase advance tickets at Beam Sound & Video, on West Michigan Avenue in Three Rivers. Admission is $7 for general admission or $8 for reserved seating. If you decide to wait and get your tickets at the door, you’ll pay $8. This year’s production includes some of your favorite acts and musical selections from the past 25 years. It’s definitely an event you don’t want to miss. Phone Beam Sound & Video at 279-6251 for tickets or more information. A very special thank you to Armstrong International for volunteering to be the Corporate Sponsor for this 25th Anniversary production.
I’ll mention this again next week as a reminder, but you might want to mark December 14 down on your calendar. “Pet Pictures With Santa” happens a week from Sunday at the TSC store west of town on US-131. Santa Claus is very busy at this time of the year, but he has agreed to be at TSC from 1 to 4 P.M. on December 14. The cost for having your pet or pets’ picture taken with Santa is $10 for one pet and $2 for each additional pet in the picture. The Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) sponsors this event, so you friends of ARF should definitely attempt to be there. A special offer for purchase is a calendar with your pet’s picture at the top. If you’d like more information, you may visit ARF’s website at www.arfund.org, or you may call (269)273-1514 or (269)279-6251. Your pet never asks very much of you, so I’m sure having its picture taken with Santa would be very much appreciated.
As if next weekend isn’t busy enough, the Vocal Music Department of TRH’S invites the Three Rivers community to travel north to Western Michigan University. At 4:15 on Saturday afternoon, the Regional Honors Choir will perform at Dalton Center Recital Hall. Over 40 high schools are represented and only the top students from each school are selected to be included. This is an amazing experience, not only for the students, but also for the audience. On this day, the students will also audition for the State Honors Choir. What a perfect opportunity to see if your goose bumps are still active.
A week from today, December 9, also looks to be a very busy also for the Vocal Music Department. The Aristocrats will perform in the evening at the Commission on Aging (COA) Christmas party. You’ll want to contact the COA for the time. The COA can be reached at 279-8083. Other members of the Vocal Music Department will hold a fundraiser at the Three Rivers Pizza Hut, next to City Hall, from 4 to 8 P.M. The Aristocrats will also perform at “Make We Merry”, December 5 and 6. All the more reason to attend this memorable evening
This is a very busy time for shoppers. When you go Out and About to do your Christmas shopping, please don’t forget to take along your common sense and your patience. These two things are easily lost.
See you Out and About!
