Lloyd Pike Jr., 60

Lloyd Elwood Pike Jr., age 60, of Sturgis, passed away Sunday afternoon March 3, 2019, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born June 25, 1958, in Lakewood, Calif., a son of the late Lloyd and Dolly (Keyser) Pike. Lloyd lived in Sturgis from the age of 12, when he and his family moved here from California.
He had been employed several years by Sturgis Foundry.
He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and a third degree member of Deacon Jerry Mix Council #2508 Knights of Columbus. He was part of Compassionate Friends Support Group in South Bend, and Matt’s Friends Support Group in Sturgis. He enjoyed following sports, riding rollercoasters and had a very compassionate heart when it came to animals. Lloyd loved spending time with family, especially his grandson Ryu Dustin Pike.
He is survived by a brother, the Rev. Larry (Carol) Pike of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister, Betty (Mike) Lytle of Sturgis; his grandson Ryu Dustin Pike and Ryu’s mother, Elizabeth Ramirez, both of Grand Rapids; close friend Mark Meek of Sturgis; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dustin Pike; and a nephew, Benjamin Lytle.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m.Wednesday at Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis. A funeral Mass celebrating the life of Lloyd E. Pike, Jr. will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Raul Gomez will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
Memorial donations to the funeral home would be appreciated to help with expenses.
