DAR honors Good Citizens

The two local chapters of Daughters of the American Revolution recognized this year’s DAR Good Citizens earlier this month by holding a reception in their honor at Centreville United Methodist Church.

Selected for their dependability, service, leadership and patriotism were Zoe Yoquelet of Sturgis High School, Samara Schlabach from Centreville High School, Holly Ann Seman from Constantine High School, Elizabeth Kline from Howardsville Christian School, Cole Decker from Mendon High School and Gavin Charvat from Three Rivers High School.

Yoquelet plans to attend Indiana Wesleyan University to study English, and work as an editor at a publishing company. Schlabach plans to attend Indiana Wesleyan University to study exercise science, then Andrews University to pursue physical therapy.

Kline plans to attend college to study communications and digital media. Her essay on “Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It” was selected to advance for consideration at the state level.

DAR, open to any woman age 18 and up who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, has as its objectives historic preservation, education and patriotism.
